an Actors’ Playhouse Student Intern, you will collaborate
with the professional staff in the day-to-day operation
of a creative and unique non-profit business. By joining
the Actors’ Playhouse family here at the beautiful
and historic Miracle Theatre you will gain first-hand
experience in your chosen field, observe the fast-paced
world of arts administration in action, and attend special
events as a representative of our theatre.
Time
Commitment:
Schedules will vary based on applicant availability and
organization need.
Compensation:
Internships are in exchange for academic credit or volunteer
hours only.

Positions Available:
PR and Marketing
Intern
Assist
Actors’ Playhouse PR consultant by acting
as the primary in-house contact for press and
advertising.
Monitor the press and ad placements
Assist in the production of programs, invitations,
brochures, and posters
Draft and send calendar listings and media advisories
Compose Web site copy and monthly newsletter and
facilitate their production
Compile and update media lists
Create and distribute press kits
Oversee trade advertising contracts and ticket
voucher distribution
Assist with the planning and coordination of cast
appearances and media events
Attend special events as a theatre liaison
Knowledge of Photoshop Required
Arts Administration
Assistant
Assist
the Office manager with the day-to-day organization
and operation of the administrative offices.
Help maintain photo and publication archives
Create and update new organizational systems
Perform some clerical tasks, such as faxing and
photocopying
Help manage reservations and organize seating
for opening night
Participate in opening night receptions
Observe staff meetings
Development Assistant
Work closely with the Development Director in
the fundraising activities of
a major regional theatre and non-profit organization.
- Attend special events and participate in event
planning
- Research new corporate leads
- Solicit and follow up on donation requests
- Prepare donor correspondence
- Observe the process of donor identification
and cultivation
Education
Assistant
Assist the Education Coordinator in completing
the administrative duties of
one of the most well respected children¹s
theatre programs in the region.
- Act as an onsite contact to school staff during
Musical Theatre for
Young Audiences performances
- Maintain communications with Conservatory parents
and teachers
- Help develop promotional materials
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of all Conservatory
and Musical Theatre
for Young Audiences programming
- Follow up on inquiries from teachers and parents
Costume Shop
Intern
Observe
and assist with the design and production process
of theatrical costuming from start to finish.
Requires a practical knowledge of basic sewing
techniques and machinery
Perform costume alteration and construction for
both the Mainstage and Children’s Theatre
productions
Assist with costume fittings
Perform some related clerical tasks
Gala Auction Assistant (Spring Semester Only)
Assist in planning and execution of the 16th Actors
Playhouse Annual Gala
Auction.
- Seek and follow up on sponsorship and donation
requests
- Collect and Catalog donations
- Create and send promotional material
- Manage Auction Database & Website
- Manage elements on the day of the event
- Record conciliation after the event
