Coral Gables, FL, March 8, 2007-- Donors, sponsors, civic leaders and longtime patrons of Actors’ Playhouse were feted at an exclusive book signing reception on February 26 at the Westin Colonnade Hotel. The event, sponsored by the Paladin Coral Gables, marked the official unveiling of the theatre’s newly published commemorative book, Miracle on the Mile: The First Ten Years of Actors’ Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre. The book’s author, Coral Gables resident and business owner Connie Crowther, signed books and posed for photographs with guests, many of whom are featured in the book.

Among those in attendance were Coral Gables Vice Mayor Maria Anderson, former Mayor Dorothy Thomson and Jack Thomson, Miracle Theatre donor architect John Fullerton, Scott McAlister, general manager of the Paladin Coral Gables, Gloria Burns, executive director of the Coral Gables Community Foundation, Rene and Marisol Basulto, Jason Neal, Douglas Wood and Jo Werne. The book’s graphic designer, Mark Cantor of Frank Design, was joined by the book’s editors, Bea Moss and Fran Sevcik. The guests were welcomed by Barbara Stein, executive producing director of Actors’ Playhouse, along with artistic director David Arisco, and Earl Maulding, director of theatre for young audiences.

Miracle on the Mile chronicles the history of Actors’ Playhouse, the Art Modern main street cinema that became Coral Gables own community performing arts center, and takes a behind-the-scenes look at the renovation and restoration of the historic Miracle Theatre. The book pays tribute to those who played a part in the transformation of the facility into Actors’ Playhouse’s new home.

Proceeds from the sale of the book ($29.95) at local book stores and the theatre will benefit Actors’ Playhouse Endowment Fund.
