Over 150,000 patrons attend events at the Miracle Theatre each year, including 60,000 youths through our diverse and popular children’s programming.
Your gift supports quality of life enrichment for the community
Celebrating 34 years as a professional regional theatre company, Actors’ Playhouse has made a profound positive impact on the South Florida community. Its origin began in 1988 in a twin movie house converted into a two-stage performance space in a Kendall suburban mall. After that space was destroyed by Hurricane Andrew in 1992, the organization sought a permanent home in Coral Gables, central to all crossroads and public transportation. In a stunning role model private/public partnership with the City of Coral Gables, Actors’ Playhouse became the managing agent with a 45-year long-term rent-free lease with the City of Coral Gables, in exchange for renovating and restoring the Miracle Theatre into a three-stage performing arts center. The project is acknowledged as the major catalyst for the revitalization of the downtown district, now a hub for culture, retail, more than 100 world-class restaurants, art galleries, residents, centers for senior citizens, schools, and five major hotels. Our organization collaborates with multiple community partners to provide educational, inspiring and quality live theatre events to our multigenerational and multicultural community.
Your gift will have a positive impact on the community and be part of your own legacy
Miracle Mile, of which Actors’ Playhouse is its anchor, attracts 35,000 in foot traffic daily, according to the City’s Economic Development Department. The historic theatre marquee rises above the street, now being renovated with a beautification streetscape project by the City. Actors’ Playhouse is a global destination for cultural programming. Its aggressive marketing campaign reaches theatre patrons worldwide through ticketing engines and hoteliers. Our popular, name recognizable programs are a major influence in developing attendance. When the theatre is in production, business in area restaurants goes up by 30 percent. Supported by the Miami-Dade County Tourist Development Council, Actors’ Playhouse’s presence has a significant and quantifiable influence on economic prosperity for the community.
Your gift will help secure the theatre’s future as a vital cultural institution
As one of only 13 Major Cultural Institutions in Miami-Dade County and a Florida Cultural PresentingOrganization, Actors’ Playhouse is renowned for the highest quality theatrical productions and cultural programming and for its business stability. The organization is the largest self-producing professional Equity company for Mainstage and Children’s Theatre in South Florida employing regional talent and designers, and artists from New York with Broadway credentials. Many of our alumni who have grown up in our youth programming, and had their first professional experience with our organization, are now starring on Broadway and in national and international tours. Our program reaches all ages from five through the golden years. Winner of 90 Carbonell Awards for artistic excellence and noted for business acumen and stability, Actors’ Playhouse is now planning for the future of its institution.
