ELIGIBILITY
- Participants must be:
• A resident of Miami-Dade County
• 8 years of age and no older than 17 years of age as of May 13, 2023 - Parental and guardian responsibilities:
• It is required that participant must have his or her parent’s or legal guardian’s permission by signing the required documents. - Employees, officers, directors, agents, and representatives of Actors’ Playhouse Productions or The Children’s Trust of South Florida, together with the immediate family members, and those living in the same household of such persons (whether or not related), are not eligible to participate in the Contest.
- Participants under a current recording agreement, or another agreement that would prohibit the participant from participating fully in the Contest as determined by the Contest Administrator, will not be eligible to participate in the Contest. An Act, which has one or more Participants under such a contract, will be allowed if eligible participants, with the prior agreement of the Administrator, replace such prohibited Participants before the first audition.
PERFORMANCE CATEGORIES
Individual Performance Categories:
• Pop/Rock/Rap Vocals
• Musical Theatre/Jazz Standards/Classical Vocals
• Dance
• Musical Instrument (no vocals)
• Original Spoken Word/Poetry/Prose Act (Acts must submit a written copy of the piece with their online Registration and shall not include theatrical monologues)
• Original Vocal or Instrumental Composition (Original compositions should be new and not pull melody lines or chord structures from existing musical pieces. The composition may be created for an individual instrumentalist or a solo singer. Original Composition Acts must submit a score or lead sheet of their piece with their online Registration.
Group Performances Categories (Maximum of 6 members)
• Dance Group
• Instrumental Group/Bands (Any Musical Style – Acoustic or Amplified – With or Without Live Vocals – Minimum of 2 Musicians in all Groups/Bands)
• Vocal Group – (Any Musical Style – Recorded Instrumental with Live Vocals)
HOW TO ENTER
Begin by reading the following rules in their entirety!
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITATIONS
- The length of the Preliminary Audition must be equal to or no greater than ONE (1) MINUTE.
- Performance must include members of the Act ONLY.
- If singing or playing an instrument, the Act must perform live and not lip-sync or pretend to play the instrument (i.e., no music videos where singing/playing is not captured with the performance).
- Singers MUST sing to musical accompaniment with no lead vocals.
- All Acts must adhere to the following guidelines regarding material content, age appropriate dress and choreography.
• Material of all Acts must be age appropriate to the age of the participant.
• Material of all Acts cannot not be sexually explicit, obscene, pornographic, or violent. Including relating to murder, the sale of weapons, cruelty, or abuse.
• Material of all Acts cannot be discriminatory based on race, sex, religion, natural origin, physical disability, sexual orientation or age.
• Material of all Acts cannot contain illegal content such as underage drinking, substance abuse or computer hacking.
• Material of all Acts cannot be offensive, threatening, contain profane language, or be harassing.
• Costuming in all Acts must be age appropriate, not too revealing or obscene.
• Dance choreography cannot contain more than 25% tumbling
• Dance choreography cannot have sexually explicit movement. - Original Spoken Word, Poetry or Prose:
• An Act performing an original spoken word, poem or prose piece will be required to submit a copy of their piece with their online Registration. These pieces will be checked and verified for originality and must not be copied or paraphrased from any published poems, prose pieces or monologues. - Original Musical Compositions
• Original music should be new and not pull any melody lines or chord structure from any existing musical pieces. The composition may be created for an individual instrumentalist or a solo singer. An Act performing an Original Composition must submit a score or lead sheet of their piece with their online Registration. - Each Act may audition one time in each year. However an Individual Performer may compete in both an Individual Category and a Group Category in the same year.
- Winners in an Individual Category may never compete again in the same Performance category. However performers who win as part of a Group Act may compete again in another group in any Category with a majority of the original performers being different, the Act name being different and performing a significantly different style of material/music and/or choreography. All decisions regarding meeting these stipulations are at the discretion of the Administrator.
- Contest Entities have the right, in their sole discretion, to disqualify an act, and remove such Act from the competition, if the Act’s behavior or the behavior of the Act’s Parent or Guardian is deemed by the Contest Administrator to be disruptive, cause damage to other persons, property, or the reputation of any Contest Entity, or is judged as disruptive in any manner with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass others.
CONTEST JUDGING
- Auditions will be judged by a panel of Professional Industry Artists (‘Judging Panel’). All decisions of the Judging Panels and the Administrator are final.
- The Preliminary Judging Panels will select the top scoring acts in each category, from each Preliminary Audition date. Exact number advancing from each Preliminary Audition date is at the Sole discretion of the Judges and The Administrator.
- Submissions will be scored on a one hundred percent (100%) scale based on the following three criteria:
• Entertainment Value & Appeal: 30%
• Creativity: 40%
• Ability: 30%
SEMI-FINAL and FINALS GUIDELINES
- All Semi-Final Acts must perform the same material as the original Preliminary audition but the length of the Semi-Final performance may be equal to or no greater than TWO (2) MINUTES.
- Semi-Final judges will select no more than five (5) Acts in each Individual category and no more than three (3) Acts in each Group category to advance to the Finals, and reserve the right to advance fewer to the Finals.
- In the event of a tie score for a position in the Finals, the Semi-Final Judges may advance only one or both of the Acts who have tied for the Finals.
- All Acts advancing to the Semi-Finals will be posted at the YTBD website and sent email confirmation by April 30, 2023. Semi-Finalists must respond acceptance to advance to the finals by email. Semi-Finalists are requested to respond within three (3) days of notification. The failure to respond to the notification as determined by Administrator in its sole discretion may result in forfeiture and Administrator may declare an alternate Semi-Finalist, based on judging results.
- In the event that a member or members of a Group Act, that has advanced past the preliminary round, are informed of a Mandatory School event that conflicts with the Semi-Finals or Finals the Group Act may replace the performer or performers with the conflict after receiving permission from the Competition Administrator. Permission may be granted once official proof of the conflict, on school letterhead, and signed by the appropriate school official is provided to the Competition Administrator.
- The Finals Judging Panel will select one winning Act in each category and one Grand Prize winner among the winning Acts.
ADDITIONAL CONTEST RULES
- Submitted promotional material rights:
- In consideration of an Audition being reviewed and evaluated for this Contest, each member of each Act hereby grants to the Contest Entities the non-exclusive, irrevocable, universal license to use, copy, sublicense, transmit, distribute, publicly perform, publish, delete or display such Audition, or any portion thereof, including to the extent applicable (a) any information, biographical data, and material submitted by Act in connection with the Contest; and (b) all graphics, statements, and quotations of, by, or furnished by any member of the Act as part of this Contest (the ‘Material’), in any media now known or hereafter devised including, but not limited to all forms of television media, electronic media, and all forms of internet and wireless protocol.
- Each member of each Act understands and agrees that his or her name and other Material may be posted on the Contest Website and other Social Media Outlets in connection with the Contest. Acts agree that the Contest Entities have no obligation to post its Material on the Contest Website. Each member of each Act authorizes the Contest Entities to utilize, in any manner they see fit, the Audition provided to Contest Entities, and to make derivative works from such materials in connection with the Contest (i.e., without limitation, to create promotional materials). Each member of each Act releases the Contest Entities, and their assignees and licensees, from any and all claims or liability (now known or hereafter arising), including but not limited to any claims for defense and/or indemnity, in connection therewith.
- In addition, by participating in the Contest and providing a Submission, each member of each Act hereby grants permission (except where prohibited by law) for the Contest Entities to use participant’s Submission, name, likeness, voice, quotes, comments, biographical information, photograph and/or image for the purpose of advertising, trade, or promotion without further compensation or consideration in any and all media now known upon request, to the giving of consent (by a parent or legal guardian if necessary), in writing, to all such uses. Except as required by law or permitted pursuant to these Contest Official Rules, the Contest Entities will not share an Act’s information with any third parties.
- Prizes
• In connection with the prizes for winning the Contest, Contest Administrators may in their sole discretion, provide Monetary Prizes, Master Classes, Performance Opportunities and Tickets to local events subject to availability and other conditions.
• All federal, state and local taxes, and any other costs and expenses, associated with the receipt or use of the prize are the sole responsibility of the winner.
• Winners cannot assign or transfer the PRIZES or GRAND PRIZE to another person or Act, except at the sole discretion of Contest Administrator.
• Administrator and Contest Entities shall have no responsibility or liability for cancellations, delays, or any other change by any company or person providing any element of Prizes due to reasons beyond the control of the Administrator and Contest Entities.
• Administrator and Contest Entities are not responsible or liable for any expenses incurred as a consequence thereof.
• Appearance on Young Talent Big Dreams has no cash equivalent value.
• Young Talent Big Dreams is subject to cancellation and scheduling delays. If Young Talent Big Dreams is not in production or is cancelled for any reason, no additional compensation or substitute for the Grand Prize will be awarded.
• Other restrictions may apply.
• The Grand Prize is awarded WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, express or implied, without limitation
* In the Event that a Group Act wins the Grand Prize it is up to the Act to determine how any monetary award would be divided among the participants and how any appropriate travel award would be assigned and used by participating Group Act members.
- Indemnity:
A third party or parties may also promote the Contest. Each member of each Act shall indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Contest Entities, any Promotional Partners, and each of their respective parents, affiliates, successors, assigns and licensees, and each of their respective employees, shareholders, officers, directors, contractors, agents and representatives from and against any and all liability, claims, loss, damage, injury or expense, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of or in connection with any third party action arising out of or resulting from (i) Act’s participation in the Contest, (ii) a breach or allegation which if true would constitute a breach, of any of Act’s representations, warranties or obligations herein, and/or (iii) acceptance, possession, or use/misuse of any grant or prize (or any portion thereof, including any travel related thereto), including without limitation, personal injury, death and property damage arising there from.
- General Terms and Conditions:
By participating, each Act agrees that the Contest Entities and each of their respective agents, representatives, parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries and legal advisors, and each of their respective employees, shareholders, officers, and directors are not responsible or liable for, and shall be released and held harmless from any actions relating to the Contest other than intentional torts, including but not limited to the following: (i) late, lost, delayed, damaged, incomplete, illegible, unintelligible, misdirected or otherwise undeliverable mail, postage-due notices, release forms, affidavits or other correspondence; (ii) telephone, electronic, hardware or software program, network, Internet or computer malfunctions, failures, or difficulties of any kind; (iii) any condition caused by events beyond the control of the Contest Entities that may cause the Contest to be disrupted or corrupted; (iv) any printing, human, typographical or other errors or ambiguities in (or involving) any materials associated with the Contest; (v) any and all losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind in connection with or resulting from participation in the Contest; (vi) acceptance, possession, or use of any grant or prize (or any portion thereof, including any travel related thereto), including without limitation, personal injury, death and property damage arising there from; and (vii) claims based on publicity rights, defamation or invasion of privacy.
- Contest Cancellation
Contest Entities reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to suspend or cancel the Contest at any time for any reason, including, without limitation, if a computer virus, bug or other technical problem corrupts the administration, security, or proper conduct of the Contest, strikes, lock-outs, acts of God, technical difficulties, and other events not within the reasonable control of Contest Entities. Contest Entities may suspend or discontinue the Contest if, in their sole opinion, there is any actual or suspected tampering relating to the Contest, or any other malfunction, event or activity that may affect the integrity of the Contest.
CONTEST ENTITIES SHALL NOT BE OBLIGATED TO AWARD ANY PRIZE THAT RELATES TO OR ARISES OUT OF IMPROPER OR MISTAKEN PRIZE NOTIFICATION, OPERATION OR FUNCTION OF THIS CONTEST.

- Identification/Proof of Age:
• Participants are required to submit a photo ID with their Registration Information.
• Minor contestants without a driver’s license may use a school photo ID AND a Birth Certificate with matching name.
• If the minor is too young to have any form of photo ID, then that minor’s parent or guardian should present a photo ID and the child’s birth certificate that includes the parent’s name with the child’s name on the certificate. - Auditions are on a first-come first-served basis and are limited.
