Young Talent Big Dreams (“YTBD”) Competition Official Rules and Registration Form 2024

ELIGIBILITY

1. Participants must be:
· A resident of Miami-Dade County.
· Between the ages of 8 and 18 as of May 11, 2024.
2. Parental and guardian responsibilities:
· Participants require parental or legal guardian permission by signing the necessary documents.
3. Ineligibility:
· Employees, officers, directors, agents, and representatives of Actors’ Playhouse Productions, Inc., or The Children’s Trust of South Florida, along with their immediate family members and those living in the same household, are not eligible to participate in the contest.
. Participants must not be under any professional contract.

PERFORMANCE CATEGORIES FOR THE PARTICIPANTS ACTS (“ACTS”)

Individual Performance Categories:
· Pop/Rock/Rap Vocals
· Musical Theatre/Jazz Standards/Classical Vocals
· Dance
· Musical Instrument (no vocals)
· Original Spoken Word/Poetry/Prose Act
· Original Vocal or Instrumental Composition (The composition may be created for an individual instrumentalist or a solo singer.)

Group Performances Categories (Maximum of 6 members):
· Dance Group
· Instrumental Group/Bands (Any Musical Style – Acoustic or Amplified – With or Without Live Vocals – Minimum of 2 Musicians in all Groups/Bands)
· Vocal Group

HOW TO ENTER
Please begin by reading the following rules in their entirety!

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITATIONS

1. Preliminary Audition length must be equal to or no greater than ONE (1) MINUTE.
2. Performance must include members of the Act ONLY.
3. If singing or playing an instrument, it must be live—no lip-syncing or pretending.
4. Singers MUST sing to musical accompaniment with no lead vocals.
5. Original Spoken Word, Poetry, or Prose must be entirely original with a written copy of their piece submitted upon registration (no theatrical monologues).
6. Original Music Composition must be entirely original with a score or lead sheet of their piece submitted upon registration.
7. Each Act may audition once per year. However, an Individual Performer may compete in both an Individual Category and a Group Category in the same year. Winners in an Individual Category may not compete again in the same category. Performers who win as part of a Group Act may compete again in another group in any Category if most of the original performers are different, the Act name is different and performing a significantly different style of material/music and/or choreography. All decisions regarding meeting these stipulations are at the discretion of Actors’ Playhouse Productions, Inc. (Administrator).
8. All Acts must adhere to guidelines on material content, dress, and choreography.
· All performances must use content suitable for the age of the participant.
· Performances cannot include explicit, obscene, pornographic, or violent material, including themes like murder, weapon sales, cruelty, or abuse.
· Performances cannot be discriminatory based on race, sex, religion, natural origin, physical disability, sexual orientation, or age.
· Performances cannot include illegal content such as underage drinking, substance abuse, or computer hacking.
· Performances cannot be offensive, threatening, contain profanity, or be harassing.
· Costumes must be age-appropriate and not overly revealing or obscene.
· Dance choreography should not exceed 25% tumbling.
· Dance choreography must avoid sexually explicit movements.

CONTEST JUDGING

1. Auditions judged by a panel of Professional Industry Artists. All decisions of the Judging Panels and the Administrator are final.
2. The Preliminary Judging Panels will select the top scoring Acts in each category, from each Preliminary Audition date. Exact number advancing from each Preliminary Audition date is at the Sole discretion of the Judges and The Administrator.
3. Submissions scored on a 100% scale based on Entertainment Value & Appeal (30%), Creativity (40%), and Ability (30%).

SEMI-FINAL and FINALS GUIDELINES

1. Semi-Final Acts must perform the same material as the Preliminary audition but for no more than TWO (2) MINUTES.
2. Semi-Final judges will select no more than five (5) Acts in each Individual category and no more than three (3) Acts in each Group category to advance to the Finals and reserve the right to advance fewer to the Finals.
3. In the event of a tie score for a position in the Finals, the Semi-Final Judges may advance only one or both Acts who have tied for the Finals.
4. Semi-Finalists must respond to advance to the finals by email within three (3) days of notification. The failure to respond to the notification as determined by Administrator in its sole discretion may result in forfeiture and Administrator may declare an alternate Semi-Finalist, based on judging results.
5. If a member or members of a Group Act, that has advanced past the preliminary round, are informed of a Mandatory School event that conflicts with the Semi-Finals or Finals, the Group Act may replace the performer or performers with the conflict after receiving permission from the Administrator. Permission may be granted once official proof of the conflict, on school letterhead, and signed by the appropriate school official is provided to the Administrator.
6. The Finals Judging Panel will select one winning Act in each category and one Grand Prize winner among the winning Acts.

ADDITIONAL CONTEST RULES

1. Submitted promotional material rights: Acts grant non-exclusive, irrevocable license for use in various media.
2. Prizes include Monetary Prizes, Master Classes, Performance Opportunities, and Tickets to local events.
· In connection with the prizes for winning the Contest, Contest Administrators may in their sole discretion, provide Monetary Prizes, Master Classes, Performance Opportunities and Tickets to local events subject to availability and other conditions.
· All federal, state and local taxes, and any other costs and expenses, associated with the receipt or use of the prize are the sole responsibility of the winner.
· Winners cannot assign or transfer the PRIZES or GRAND PRIZE to another person or Act, except at the sole discretion of Administrator.
· Administrator and Contest Entities shall have no responsibility or liability for cancellations, delays, or any other change by any company or person providing any element of Prizes due to reasons beyond the control of the Administrator and Contest Entities.
· Administrator and Contest Entities are not responsible or liable for any expenses incurred consequently thereof.
· The Grand Prize is awarded WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, express or implied, without limitation.
· In the Event that a Group Act wins the Grand Prize it is up to the Act to determine how any monetary award would be divided among the participants and how any appropriate.
3. Contest Entities may suspend or cancel the Contest for various reasons and shall not be obligated to award any prize that relates to or arises out of improper or mistaken prize notification, operation, or function of this contest.

1. Online Registration only: Complete Audition Registration Form and submit required documentation.
· Parent/Guardian Permission Form
· Proof of Residency
· Proof of Age
· Original Composition (upload Sheet Music and/or Lead Sheet)
· Original Spoken Word, Poetry, or Prose (upload the text)
2. Identification/Proof of Age: Participants must submit a photo ID or use a school photo ID and a Birth Certificate.
3. Auditions are on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited.
